Bar/Bat Mitzvah

BIC provides religious education beginning with preschool. This education meets a major milestone when students are around 13 for boys and 12 for girls. They are called to Torah and become a Bar (son) or Bat (daughter) of Torah.

After studying with a Rabbi, conversion is completed by attending a Bet Din and a Mikvah.

In the Reform tradition, there are other events that are often celebrated, especially for students. Among these are Confirmation and trips to Israel sponsored by NFTY.

Those between 18 and 26 that have never been to Israel can take advantage of Birthright Israel which sponsors trips.
